Assemble a standard totem / monolith sign and set it in the ground using internal posts and M6 fixings.

What you have -
Two internal posts (with nut inserts)
Two sign trays (front and rear)
M6 bolts (Allen/hex drive)
Tools you’ll need -
Allen key for M6 bolts
Spirit level & tape measure
Spade/auger for post holes; aggregate/concrete as required
Before you start -
Confirm footing depths and check for underground services.
Lay out components and match post nut inserts to tray fixing holes.
Step-by-step assembly -
1. Fit posts to first tray
Place a post inside each tray edge so the nut inserts align with the tray holes. Fix using M6 bolts and tighten with an Allen key. Do not fully torque yet.
2. Add the second tray
Slot the other tray into place and secure with M6 bolts into the post inserts, creating the full totem body. Snug all fixings.
3. Set in the ground
Dig post holes to suit site conditions and plant the assembled totem. Plumb both posts, then back-fill or concrete. Re-check level while curing.
4. Finalise
When stable, give each fixing a final torque check. Installation complete.
Pro tips -
Level twice, tighten once: Bring all bolts up evenly after confirming plumb across and along the totem.
Protect faces: Rest trays on soft pads or a blanket to avoid scuffs during assembly.
Wind exposure: For open sites, consider deeper footings or rebar cages per site engineering. We always recommend baseplates.
Troubleshooting -
Not all holes align: Loosen bolts slightly, re-seat trays on the posts, then re-tighten progressively.
Rattle at joints: Add thin nylon washers at fixing points and re-torque.
Please note: this guide shows countersunk machine screws but refers to bolts. Either could be appropriate depending on how we have manufactured your sign.
