Cookie Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This policy explains how Ashby Trade Sign Supplies Ltd ("Ashby", "we") uses cookies and similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, on www.ashbytrade.net, and how you can control them.

Your choices

When you first visit, we ask whether you're happy for us to use optional cookies. Nothing optional is used until you choose, and if you ignore the message nothing optional is used at all. You can accept everything, reject everything, or choose by category. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page (and on this page). Withdrawing works straight away (switching off Analytics & diagnostics reloads the page to make sure everything stops). When you switch off Analytics & diagnostics or Advertising, we also ask Google to delete the Google Analytics data linked to your browser, and when you switch off Analytics & diagnostics we ask Sentry to delete any recording of your visit. Google and Sentry then delete it under their own processes.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as "reject all" and don't ask. We remember your choice for 12 months, then ask again.

Essential (always on)

These are needed for the site to work or to keep it secure, so they don't need your consent.

• ashby_consent (Ashby): remembers your cookie choices. Lasts 12 months.
• csrftoken (Ashby): protects forms and your account against cross-site request forgery. Lasts up to 1 year.
• sessionid (Ashby): keeps you signed in. Ends when you close your browser.
• Basket and quote details (Ashby, browser local storage: basketItems, basketSystems, basketVersion, quoteId, systemName): remember your basket and the quote you're working on. Kept until you check out, clear your basket or open the quote.
• "Don't show this again" (Ashby, local storage: showBanner, showSignMakerBanner, showQuoteCheckBanner, showSignMakerPrompt): remember that you closed a message. Kept for 2 to 90 days.
• Display settings (Ashby, session storage: pageSize, column choices): remember how you like the shop laid out during your visit. Cleared when you close the tab.
• Payments (Stripe: __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid): fraud prevention when you pay at checkout. Last 1 year and 30 minutes.
• Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA: _GRECAPTCHA): protects our sign-up, enquiry and job application forms from abuse. Lasts up to 6 months.
• Error reports (Sentry): if something on a page breaks, a report of the error is sent so we can fix it. Sentry also keeps page and navigation health sessions (whether they ended in a crash), with a random session ID and your browser type. No cookies are used, and we don't send your IP address with these reports.

Analytics & diagnostics (optional)

• Google Analytics (Google: _ga, _ga_3PHK6ZFX56): measures how the site is used, for example which pages are visited and how people find us, so we can improve it. Last 2 years.
• Session recordings (Sentry, session storage: sentryReplaySession): records a sample of visits, and visits where an error happens, with all text, form inputs and images hidden, so we can see what went wrong. Cleared when you close the tab.

Advertising (optional)

• Google Ads measurement and remarketing (Google: _gcl_au, _gcl_aw, _gcl_ls, and Google signals): lets Google measure whether our Google Ads lead to visits and orders, and show our ads to you on other sites. Last up to 90 days. This works through Google Analytics, so it only takes effect if Analytics & diagnostics is also on.

Google is a separate company and uses information from sites like ours as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Things we count without cookies

So that we can still see overall trends whatever you choose, our servers count visits by the kind of place they came from (for example a search engine, an ad or another website), keeping only daily totals. We also record certain actions, such as downloads and adding to your basket, as the action and the time it happened. These use only what your browser sends with the request: nothing is stored on or read from your device. For some actions we keep the IP address for 7 days to count unique visitors per day, then delete it.

Videos

Product videos play from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing from YouTube's player loads until you press play; when you do, YouTube may store data on your device.

Records of your choices

When you make or change a choice, we keep a record of it: a random ID (the one in the ashby_consent cookie), what you chose, when, and which version of this wording you saw. These records contain no IP address or account details. We keep them for 2 years so we can show what was agreed.

Controlling cookies in your browser

You can also delete cookies, or block them, in your browser's settings. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site (such as signing in, the basket and checkout) won't work.
