This guide walks you through fixing a sign to a fence using our Fence Fixing Plates and M8 bolts.

Sign panel with rear clip extrusion
M8 square-head bolts with nut & washer (included with every fixing plate purchase)
Spirit level
Spanner or socket suitable for M8 nuts
Tape measure & pencil/marker (recommended)
Choose a fence position that allows the M8 bolts to pass cleanly through (e.g., mesh, rail, or palisade styles).
Check for obstructions behind the fence (cables, flora).
Work on a stable surface and support the panel to avoid scratches.
1. Load the bolts
Slide the M8 square-head bolts into the clip extrusion on the rear of the sign panel. Position them roughly where the Fence Fixing Plates will land.
2. Position and level the panel
Hold the back of the sign panel against the fence at the desired height. Use a spirit level to make sure the panel is perfectly level before proceeding.
3. Fit plates and tighten
From the back of the fence, slot the Fence Fixing Plates over the protruding M8 bolts, add washers and M8 nuts, and tighten evenly to clamp the signage in place. Do not over-tighten; snug and even pressure across all fixings gives the best result.
4. Final check
Confirm the panel is still level and fully secure. The fence-mounted panel is now complete.
Even torque: Tighten fixings in an alternating pattern to keep the panel square and avoid twisting the extrusion.
Surface protection: Use soft pads or a blanket if resting the face of the panel on hard ground.
Bolts don’t protrude far enough: Re-seat the bolts in the shallower section of the channel if "medium" channel is being used.
Panel slips when tightening: Re-level, then nip each nut gradually rather than fully tightening one corner first.
